The main cause of driveability problems in today's cars is the buildup of soft carbon and varnish deposits.  Soft carbon is an inevitable byproduct of burning unleaded gasoline (of any brand or octane). As deposits build in the combustion chamber and on the intake valves of the engine, there can be an increase in problems with cold starting, and the formation of "hot spots" in the combustion chamber. These "hot spots" ignite the air/fuel mixture prematurely, causing a knocking or pinging sound under load or on acceleration.

This buildup, if left unattended, can lead to poor performance, rough idle, harder starting, higher emissions and even engine breakdown. Additionally, driveability problems such as hesitation, misfiring and loss of power can result from deposit buildup on fuel injectors. These deposits can interrupt the correct flow pattern of fuel, leading to problems with the fuel-to-air mixture.

* Remove gum and varnish from the entire fuel induction system, as well as the plenum and intake  manifold.
